Thena, a platform for customer communications and information that assists companies in managing consumers on Slack and Microsoft Teams chat platforms, announced that it has raised $5 million in a seed fundraising round headed by Lightspeed Venture Partners. First Round Capital and returning investor Pear VC are some additional investors.

By assisting teams that interact with customers, Thena makes it possible for clients' messaging platforms to be used widely for business-to-business customer engagements. It also offers data and insights into how customers are interacting with a client organisation. The platform recognises, tracks, and measures customer requests. The platform additionally integrates with internal programmes like Zendesk, HubSpot, and Salesforce.

Founder and CEO Ankit Saxena, Thena's platform is used by businesses with 200 to 400 Slack channels with clients. We are expanding both our American and Indian sales and go-to-market teams significantly. From a product standpoint, the transition to messaging and all the new innovation taking place in the generative AI sector make a wonderful marriage, according to Saxena.

Saxena, Govind Kavaturi, Mike Molinet, and Unmukt Raizada created Thena in April 2022. Just before joining Thena as a co-founder in 2014, Molinet also co-founded Branch, playing a critical role in the brand's expansion and operational scalability. "Our AI models synthesise data across communication channels, equipping companies with their own fine-tuned models that enable them to make customer-centric decisions at scale and improve bottom line," Saxena continued.

Spendflo, Zluri, Branch, Embrace, Mixpanel, WorkRamp, and Spotdraft are just a few of the clients the startup serves. Since the company concentrated on Slack during its first year of commercialization, around 95% of clients utilise Slack, while the remaining clients use Teams. Thena generates 80% of its sales in the US, 15% in India, and 5% elsewhere. India will begin to get a larger percentage share in the future, noted Saxena.

Hemant Mohapatra, partner at India Partners, continued, "Thena not only has an inspiring vision and mission, but its core team has previously scaled a $100 million annual recurring revenue business from the ground up, proving their ability to build through market cycles with tenacity, innovation, and speed. Thena had previously raised $2.2 million from Pear VC and Tenacity Venture Capital in August 2022, bringing the total funding to $7.2 million prior to the current round.
