Union Agriculture Minister unveils Agrisure Funding Scheme for Agri Startups
The Indian government has launched various schemes to assist farmers, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, introduced in 2019. This initiative benefits over 130 million farmers by providing financial aid of up to Rs. 6,000 per year, distributed in three installments. It aims to offer income support and improve farmers' livelihoods.
Recently, the government unveiled a new program called AgriSure to encourage agricultural entrepreneurship. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the AgriSure scheme, formally named the Agriculture Fund for Startups and Rural Enterprises, last year. Its primary objective is to foster innovation and technology adoption in agriculture and rural economies.
The scheme has a dedicated budget of Rs. 750 crores to support young entrepreneurs and boost income generation in the agricultural sector. Eligible farmers interested in starting agricultural ventures can receive financial assistance of up to Rs. 25 crores. However, the exact funding depends on specific eligibility criteria and conditions.
Farmers wishing to apply for AgriSure can contact investment managers at the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) or email their applications to agrisure@nabard.org.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the government to strengthen India’s agricultural sector and provide farmers with sustainable income opportunities through entrepreneurship.
AgriSure aims to modernize agriculture, promote rural enterprise, and enhance economic stability for the farming community.
