KPMG & Google’s joint report implies that by 2021, the e-learning sector of the country is expected to achieve eight times the growth and depict a valuation of $1.96 Bn. On the grounds of acceptance by the common population, five categories in the field of education have been cited which include primary and secondary supplemental education, test preparation, re-skilling and online certification, higher education, and language and casual learning.

The total number of smartphone users in India counts more than 850 Mn as has been reported by the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). With the rate of increment of almost 10 Mn users a month, there can be no doubt that the smartphones are going to turn to the classrooms of tomorrow. Currently, the user base for online learning platforms mostly consists of working professionals and school students.
As it stands, it is not only the common population of the country which has understood the hidden potential of mobile learning, but also the major technology and publishing companies are getting aware of the productivity that can be achieved through the implementation of education services through mobile phones.
