Tarun Sharma
CEO
"I established the company in 2020 after more than thirty five years of building enterprise software. The company was born out of my struggles with caring for my parents - my own challenges of managing the emergency when my father had a paralytic attack in 2016, and the significant challenges in managing my mother's care after her aggressive cancer diagnosis in 2019. These experiences, coupled with the isolation faced by many elderly during the COVID-19 pandemic, drove me to address the critical gaps in senior care services in India", says Tarun Sharma, CEO.
Expanding Beyond Elder Care
The company focuses on providing peace of mind and comfort to senior citizens through
two primary lines of business. Fore most, the hands-on care provided by army veterans includes emergency response, health management (including chronic diseases), and routine health services. For affordability, the company also offers cost-effective plans like Yodda Enable Plus, which provides emergency management. "The company has expanded into women and young adult safety, repurposing its emergency response platform to offer protection services. All care givers undergo strict background checks, sourced directly from army service files", adds Tarun.
The company's key differentiators lie in its robust technology stack, which ensures consistent and high-quality service delivery through structured, software-driven processes, and its workforce, composed entirely of retired army veterans. The technology enables it to handle routine and emergency requests, ensuring precise service delivery. The structured approach ensures meticulous adherence to protocols and processes, guided by the software. Employing only army veterans provides a unique advantage, as their discipline, service-oriented mindset, and trustworthiness deeply resonate with the Indian population.
In managing medical emergencies, the company relies on a simple yet effective software system tailored for senior citizens. The Yodda Care app features an easy-to-use button for routine requests and emergencies. When pressed for three seconds, it triggers an emergency alert in Yodda's 24/7 command center, managed by army veterans. The team quickly assesses the situation, contacting the senior citizen or their emergency contacts if necessary. Depending on the severity, they dispatch an ambulance to the nearest or preferred hospital and manage the entire process, including medical information sharing, hospital admission, and payment handling. The system also allows family members to track the emergency response in real time through a connected app.
The company's future goal is to ensure safety, security, and peace of mind for every woman, young adult, and senior citizen in India. The company aims to achieve this by making its app widely available across these demographics. Even for young adults, the platform effectively handles emergencies. For instance, if someone is involved in an accident and becomes unconscious, anyone nearby can scan a QR code associated with their Yodda profile, instantly providing critical medical information and initiating an emergency response. Yodda's system will then coordinate medical care, including dispatching an ambulance and informing attending doctors about the individual's medical history and insurance details. The company is enhancing its technology, ensuring that users have peace of mind knowing that the company is always there to support them.
