The Solar Photovoltaic system uses the sun’s rays acts as its raw material, as it is free and available in abundance. As the technology is becoming more efficient and affordable, more people are embracing solar energy and the usage has gone up manifold. This is the right time for the Central Government to bring in encouragement and growth driven policies. This is very essential to break barriers further.
There is also a pertinent question that needs to be asked today. When better technologies like solar Net metering etc. are available, do we still require promoting the solar water heater? Many Municipal Corporations are still insisting on the compulsory installation of solar water heaters. “Isn’t it time to move on and ask for solar net-metering systems instead?”
“In the very near future, the renewable energy segment will essentially become the backbone of India’s energy needs” asserts Vaibhav Karkhanis, Founder, PDO International, a true ecopreneur with 25+ years of robust experience in the energy sector.

With abundance of sunshine throughout the year and its proximity to the equator, India has an added advantage for taking solar technology to the next level. In recent times, the government has also started with a pro-solar policy that is very important for this segment. That, in turn, has led to overnight success stories for new companies, thereby attracting attention to the solar renewable energy market, which is growing at a phenomenal rate.

The Journey of Green Transformation
Founded in 2016, Mumbai-based PDO International has had an impressive journey. Initially, it started with a focus on the residential rooftop market. Today, the company is more inclined towards industrial and commercial rooftops as well as ground-based projects.
Besides this, their focus on ground mounted projects has resulted in opening a branch at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Soon, it plans to open a few more offices PAN India. Excited Vaibhav sharing the progress of his company, says “In the year 2018, PDO along with its sister companies has been able to provide various services for more than 250 MWs of solar projects. The future looks even brighter for us, as we are going to be an integral part of the renewable energy market.”
Vaibhav concludes, “the projects that touch human lives are the ones that satisfy me immensely. We have installed a solar water pump for a farmer in Washim District of Maharashtra. Recently when we caught up with him, he mentioned that the solar water pump had changed his life beyond his dreams. Earlier he used to have sleepless nights not knowing when electricity will be available to irrigate his fields. Now he gets to use the pump throughout the day all year round. His family life has changed phenomenally and so has his income.”
