Spense, a Bengaluru fintech company with a focus on programmable banking and credit card infrastructure, has raised $1.85 million in a pre-seed round led by GrowthCap Ventures.

Prominent investors include Kunal Shah (Founder, CRED), Sayandeb Banerjee (Co-founder, The Math Company), Suresh Rayasam (Head of Applied AI for GTM), Ravi Sudhakar (Director, AI Global Business Strategy, Microsoft), among others.

The startup will apply the proceeds to bring on more banking partners, grow fintech partnerships, and diversify its product and technology base beyond secured credit cards.

Founded by Pawan Kumar (ex-head of Applied Science at Uber India) and Srinivas Krishnamurthy (ex-technical lead at BNP Paribas), Spense provides infrastructure solutions for secured credit cards, prepaid cards, and forex programs. The platform enables regulated financial institutions to quickly launch and deploy new credit products while maintaining auditability and smooth compatibility with existing systems.

Today, Spense assists regulated players in deploying secured credit programs with quick go-to-market timelines and strong operational controls.
