Matiks, a Bengaluru-based mobile games platform that combines maths and fun, has raised $3.14 million (approximately Rs 27 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round led via Tanglin Ventures. Info Edge Ventures also participated, along with prominent angel investors such as Aman Gupta (boAt), Gaurav Munjal and Roman Saini (Unacademy), and Anil Goteti (Scapia).

In September 2024, Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar, and Sushant Timmapur launched Matiks, developing skill-based mobile games that improve maths skills by solving puzzles, speed games, and memory games. The platform has multiplayer duels, daily challenges, worldwide leaderboards, and customized progress tracking.

In a recent move, Matiks launched a paid 'Creators Programme', through which users can create and maintain their own in-app communities, leading to greater engagement and retention.

With the new money, the firm plans to grow its staff of less than 20, increase marketing efforts, develop more games, and pursue new geographies. On both iOS and Google Play, Matiks has already had over 50,000 downloads and has some 100,000 players.

The investment highlights the increasing promise of edutainment startups that combine education with competitive game-playing.
