CityMall pockets fund from Citrus Pay founder

Team StartupcityEcommerce platform Citymall which has a Whatsapp selling portal where lifestyle and curated products are sold through peer-to-peer references raised fund from a cluster of investors which included Jitendra Gupta, Founder, Citrus Pay and Alvin Tse, Executive, Xiaomi.

In a release statement, CityMall said it had also received investment from Manish Vij and Harish Bhal of the Smile Group, Droom co-founder Rishad Malik, Rajesh Sawhney of GSF and others

The amount raised is not disclosed. The fund is expected to be used to reach 200 million customers and also mark 20,000 orders a day within 12 months.
The firm traded household and lifestyle items, and the history of the company shows it grew from 50 orders to 750 orders a day in a span of few months.

Angad Kikla , Co-Founder, CityMall said, “The amount will also help to improve the technological infrastructure and strengthen the supply chain. We also focus on differentiated customer experiences that play a big role among the price conscious audience.”

Co-Founder Divij Goyal exclaimed, “We chose WhatsApp as a medium because of deep penetration among several population segment in India. We will be doubling down on leveraging WhatsApp for downstream e-commerce workflows with more languages soon.”

The company was ventured by Kikla, Goyal and Naisheel Verdhan this year. It is among the couple of social e-commerce startups that are seeking to use existing online and offline social network platforms.
