A Bengaluru-based generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) startup, Simplismart has received an undisclosed pool of funding from former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg for the second time. She participated the funding round led by Accel. This could see the company's valuation reach $35 million.

As per the latest Tracxn data, the company has so far raised $7.14 million in two funding rounds. The company’s seed round was held in July at a post-money valuation of $1.54 million.

Sandberg has also invested in another GenAI startup Ema, that enhances productivity across roles by automating complex workflows, through simple conversation. The company’s no-code platform allows users to build and deploy custom AI agents (personas) using language.

The number of GenAI startupsin the country has more than doubled from 2021 to 2023 as per a study by NASSCOM. This is evident from the surge in funding in such startups since December 2023.

Half a dozen early-stage AI generative start-ups have raised nearly $100 million in funding in the past six months. It includes Sarvam AI, Ema, Neysa, Vodex, KonProz etc. Sarvam AI leads the pack with $41 million in Series A followed by Ema and Neysa which raised $25 million and $20 million in their seed round respectively.

Founded in 2022 by Amritanshu Jain and Devansh Ghatak, Simplismart offers services that allow users to build, deploy, and monitor deep learning models with minimal coding. It also assists customers in deploying GenAI models using its high-speed inference engine, providing scalable and cost-effective solutions.

The company's clients include Vodex, Dubverse, and mobavenue. Major investors in Simplismart include Accel, Anicut Capital, and Titan Capital, and the company operates in the B2B segment. Simplismart competes with companies like Veritone, Comet, and DataRobot. Before founding Simplismart, Jain worked as a machine learning engineer at Oracle and Capillary Technologies, while Ghatak held various engineering roles at Avamo and Google. Sandberg reportedly learned about the startup through a client of Iconiq Capital, a US investment management firm known for funding companies such as Flipkart.

Sandberg has also invested in another GenAI startup, Ema, which boosts productivity by automating complex workflows through simple conversations. Ema’s no-code platform enables users to create and deploy custom AI agents (personas) using natural language. According to a NASSCOM study, the number of GenAI startups in the country has more than doubled from 2021 to 2023. This growth is reflected in the increase in funding for such startups since December 2023.

In the past six months, around six early-stage generative AI startups have collectively raised nearly $100 million. This includes Sarvam AI, Ema, Neysa, Vodex, KonProz, and others. Sarvam AI leads with $41 million in Series A funding, while Ema and Neysa secured $25 million and $20 million, respectively, in their seed rounds.
