India's Women-led Startups Funding hits $930 million in 2024
In the past few years, there have been significant changes to the Indian startup ecosystem, and the number of women entrepreneurs has increased to an unprecedented degree. By 2024, funding for female-led startups will have increased by more than 90%.
In addition to becoming founders or co-founders, women entrepreneurs are also attracting a lot of investment for their startups.
As per Inc42's Indian Startup Funding Report 2024, 136 deals totaling approximately $930 million were closed by women-led startups in 2024. In 2023, this amount totaled $480 million from 118 transactions, indicating an annual growth of 93.75%.
Fintech companies received the largest amount of funding for startups led by women. It contributed $266.91 million, or 28.7%, of the total funding. With a share of 22.8 percent or $212 million in total funding, the e-commerce industry came in second, followed by enterprise tech in third place with a share of 14% or $130 million.
Just 17 deals have resulted in this funding going to the fintech industry. In the meantime, 53 deals totaling $212 million have raised capital for e-commerce.
Apart from this, 11.1% ($ 102.3 million) and 14.1% ($ 130.93 million) of the total funding went to health tech and cleantech, respectively.
Furthermore, 13 new-age companies made their initial public offerings (IPOs) in 2024; these startups raised a total of over Rs 29,200 crore from the stock market.
The cash market raised a total of Rs 29,247 crore for the 13 startups. Nearly Rs 14,672 crore and Rs 14,574 crore in Offers for Sale (OFS) were the new issues out of this.
