Krafton, a South Korean gaming company, has invested $5.4 million in Nautilus Mobile, a mobile game development studio owned by JetSynthesys. This is the firm's first investment in an Indian game development studio.

“With Nautilus, we have the aspiration of building India’s best gaming studio,” said Rajan Navani, CEO of JetSynthesys and chairman of Nautilus Mobile.

“Krafton’s investment in Nautilus will let us unlock the journey that we believe is just the beginning of what the gaming industry will see moving forward.”

The money will allow Nautilus to expand its reach into new markets throughout the world and expand its scope beyond cricket.

“Krafton is excited to invest in Nautilus as the first game development studio in India with whom we share a common goal of creating more unique sports gaming experiences for a passionate cricketing Indian audience,” said Sean Hyunil Sohn, India head of Krafton Inc. He added that Krafton would also look to learn from Nautilus, which has expertise in cricket.

Sean stated that Krafton's experience may be utilised through another subsidiary, RisingWings, which also produces sports games and can assist with elements such as monetisation and game creation. On the publishing side, Krafton would collaborate with Nautilus to help it expand outside of India, in the South Asian and Western markets.

Krafton committed $22.5 million into JetSynthesys' esports company, Nodwin Gaming, in 2021. Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the company behind the popular battle royale game, has announced that it will spend $100 million of its IPO earnings in the Indian gaming and entertainment industry. Loco, a game streaming platform, Pratilipi, and Frnd, a gamified dating app, are among the other investments.

Nautilus Mobile was founded in 2013, and JetSynthesys acquired it in October 2000. Following the investment, the company will remain the majority shareholder in Nautilus. With over 100 million downloads and a community of 10 million monthly active users, Nautilus is the world's most popular simulation-based cricket gaming brand.
