Avinash Tiwari,DirectorThe cloud in its all avatars has been in an ever-growing mode. Even though the narrative is technological, data as well as relevance have emerged as the key talking points as the growth is reaching a certain maturity. Moreover, the cloud has been pivotal in changing the business ecosystem of the world.

A study of the history of Business would reveal that the quick rise of the U.S. based companies was because of their ability to leverage IT for their business, whereas the rest of the world was relatively slow. In last decade, they have successfully adopted cloud models to transform their IT thus creating more value, cost reduction and business speed.

Cloud computing is rapidly picking up pace in robust adoption across the world, especially among developing markets in Asia Pacific. India, Australia China, and Singapore are those leading the way for the Asia-Pacific region.

Market Share

There is an estimated slow growth in the Indian IT infrastructure market till 2020 according to Gartner, Inc. That being said, the public cloud services market in India is anticipated to grow 30.4 percent in 2016 to amount to total $1.26 Billion, pointing that the highest growth will come from Cloud system Infrastructure services (IaaS), projected to grow 32.5 percent in 2016 with Platform as a service (PaaS) to grow 31.7 percent. The market sees the need of firm and safe infrastructure to help enterprises to foresee relevant changes even before they happen. This is why businesses are aggressively transforming their IT infrastructure to adopt technologies in favor of the cloud technology.

So it is no coincidence that a huge number of startups adopting cloud are becoming success stories. Cloud computing is affordable,
efficient and is thus, popular. Cloud ensures that things get done faster and one can work from absolutely anywhere. It is estimated that by 2019, the cloud traffic will make up 90 percent of all traffic on the web.

To reduce the development cycle and cost, developers started adopting the cloud platforms for development of cross platform Apps.

The Spurt of Smart Phone Usage in The World; Emergence of Cloud Based App Testing Platforms

With the advent of technology and web, mobile phones and its services are getting personalized like never before! And to enable these services, numerous number of apps are appearing every day to suit different platforms. Among the apps, the demand for consumer apps is the most, but various enterprise applications are also evolving to support various businesses. Due to the ever-growing demand for mobile apps, app creators and developers are shifting their focus towards creating roadmap and strategies before launching their applications. To reduce the development cycle and cost, developers started adopting the cloud platforms for development of cross platform Apps. We have seen a quick rise in cloud based tools for development and deployment. But, soon developers realized that it is easier to launch an app with features and functionality required by a specific service, but it is pivotal to have a rigorous and a flawless mobile testing plan before the deployment.

Testing is a critical step, where developers can ensure the quality of the app they are going to release. Which is why mastering the craft of mobile app testing has become the primary objective for any developer to sustain in the market.

The cloud stepped into the sector as a boon for app developers and testers. Instead of purchasing 500 different models, users and developers can now test smartphone apps and mobile websites on the cloud remotely. Automated tests now have allowed series of tests to be run automatically, not only to make the testing easy for the developer but also decreasing the cost and time by almost 50 percent!
Not only that, the cloud lets you access devices which have ceased production in the market. For example, there are still many users in India use the old Android versions like 2.3 on phone, like Samsung Galaxy Star Duos. Moreover, it helps quickly reproduce bugs reported from the market and boosts the agile development process by complimenting easy integration within a continuous process. IaaS, hence, has gained amazing popularity in this sector because it improves the quality of mobile app testing, it has faster deployment and more importantly, it is easily scalable.

Mobility Growth Prediction

In terms of market mobility, Cognizant studies 80 percent of the total market demand to be Functional Test, Automation Test and performance test. ABI research says that Mobile app testing automation will push the revenues close to $800 million by the end of 2017. So it is fair to say that it is a good time to be in an exponentially growing mobile app testing market in India, estimated to be around $60 million.

Plus with the trendsetting convergence of IoT and Cloud (in particular Consumer IoT) has a genuine potential to completely transform how we live day to day. Today, as an industry, testing services are just scratching at the surface. Even Gartner and Forrester are essentially saying the same thing. And for something so disruptive, one can’t afford mistakes. Poor Quality solutions would mean Poor quality Life.

Future is Cloud

Right now almost every organization is undergoing a digital transformation journey. Deploying on-cloud platforms can invariably increase agility and make scaling businesses easier. For deployed applications, with real time users in hard-to-predict numbers, these advantages become especially important. App developers may currently feel a little more comfortable keeping pre-production applications closer to home, but as more granular as-a-service offerings become more mature, the cloud will be used increasingly at all application lifecycle stages. All for the simple reason that effective use of cloud is going to shorten cycle times, improve app quality, and reduce capital budgets by bringing order to the chaotic sphere of mobile app development and testing.
