Kruu, an edtech startup from Chennai that emphasizes project-based learning and skill development, has raised  Rs1 crore in a bridge round of funding. Established in the late months of 2022 by renowned musician and educator Anil Srinivasan, Kruu brings middle school and high school students together with global university professors and working professionals in short, mentor-led projects to develop skills relevant to the real world.

With this recent funding, Kruu's pre-seed and bridge capital so far amounts to $1.25 million. The company is also now profitable in just its second year of business a major milestone in edtech.

Kruu's innovative model combines three-to-four-week modular projects with hands-on mentorship, internships, and scholarships. Since its inception, the platform has impacted more than 470,000 students to date, with over 130,000 paying subscribers in India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, the UAE, Malaysia, Latin America, and other countries.

Its groundbreaking methodology has attracted both corporate collaborations and institutional endorsements. Following its presentation at the international conference organized by the Department of Education in the Philippines, Kruu earned a formal seal of approval from the government education ministry, which represented a major step toward full integration into national education frameworks.

Founder Anil Srinivasan highlighted Kruu's purpose to democratize learning. "Kruu has always been about dismantling barriers for students, teachers, and communities who deserve equal access to world-class learning. This funding round, from believers in transformational education, provides us with the momentum to scale responsibly and keep innovating," he added.

Kruu was recently ranked as one of the Top 10 most innovative education ideas by The PIE, commended for closing the gap between old-school schooling and future-proof skill-building.
