Fusion of Artificial Intelligence & Education

Artificial Intelligence has bestowed the modern education with more power. It has entirely transformed the way we learn and teach. Through the advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning the concept of personalization has blended in education, it helps the students to receive personalized feedbacks support and resources those specifically designed according to their preferences, style, and pace. Not only it helps the students to explore more, but it assists the educators to learn about the students more by feedbacks and queries and this way, the educators can improve or change their way of teaching for effective learning.

AI helps to keep a track of academic progress, create study materials, and provide personalized learning. The AI tool alone can design the whole program of the course keeping in mind all the preferences chosen. Though like any other technology, AI has few challenges too, like it can distract students from their studies. However, the educators should keep a sharp eye on students, so that they can effectively utilize the edtech instead of staying away from their focus.

Apart from educating students, AI can automate administrative tasks like grading, tracking of attendance, and checking the workflow of the educators. The virtual AI assistants can handle the student enquiry, anytime a day without manual help. AI is also helping the educators to create interactive and immersive learning content for the students. AI based virtual labs and educational games are helping the students to get connected to the learning session.

To explain and execute the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence in education sector, Practice head of disruptive tech at GlobalData, Kiran Raj mentioned, "As we navigate changes, it is imperative for stakeholders to foster an ecosystem where AI acts as an ally to educators, rather than a substitute, ensuring the edtech sector's resurgence is both ethical and impactful."

How Startups are emerging in Ed-tech with AI

Edtech sector is becoming a huge industry having immense scope of earning lucrative profits. Currently, more than 65,000 startups are competing in this industry across the world. Today, nearly 67% of the startups are becoming unicorn among these edtech startups who have introduced AI in their system. Since, 2020, when online education was started widely by people, from then till now, a lot of changes and improvisations have been taken place, within which Artificial Intelligence has been the key factor for this boom.

Recently, Noida-based edtech unicorn Physics Wallah led by Alakh Pandey has announced to launch their GenAI tool called Alakh AI, which will serve as the personalized tutor for the students. It will address all their queries promptly, provide summaries, and serve as the ‘study companion’.

The co-founder of PhysicsWallah, Prateek Maheswari opined, “With over 2 million daily active users, the method of having teachers or subject matter experts to directly address students' doubts and issues is not feasible. This approach is both high-cost and operationally intensive. To overcome this challenge, we have implemented GenAI to develop ‘Alakh AI’."

Mumbai based startup UpGrad, offers a diverse platform for upskilling and development of workforce. They are planning to use the effectiveness of AI to translate their popular bootcamps and certificate program into Indian regional languages so that, more number of students can take advantage of these programs and their popularity continues to grow higher.

Initially the translators will be available in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada to serve the Indian edtech market. Gradually they will expand their footprints in foreign languages such as Spanish and Chinese.
