Bengaluru based drone logistics startup Airbound has secured $8.65 million in seed funding to scale its innovative autonomous delivery systems. The round was led by Lachy Groom, with participation from Humba Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and senior leaders from Tesla, Anduril, and Ather Energy. This takes the startup’s total funding to over $10 million.

Airbound is building cost-effective, carbon-fiber blended-wing-body drones that combine the agility of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) with the efficiency of fixed wing flight. The aircraft are designed to significantly cut delivery costs and improve access to essential goods in remote or underserved areas.

The company also announced a pilot program with Narayana Health, one of India’s leading healthcare networks. Over the next three months, Airbound’s drones will carry out 10 daily medical deliveries, including blood samples, test kits, and essential supplies, between Narayana’s facilities. The goal is to prove that drone delivery can be both reliable and cost-efficient in healthcare.

Dr. Devi Shetty, Founder of Narayana Health, said, the partnership supports their mission to enhance patient care using advanced technology, especially in regions where timely access is critical.

Airbound aims to scale its tech and prepare for wider deployment by 2026, focusing on making drone logistics viable not just for hospitals but for industries across the board.
